Laramie 20” Transmission Line Rehabilitation

Mechanical Systems, Inc. was the lead contractor for this design build construction project. One of the domestic water lines that feeds the City of Laramie is a 19-mile-long, 70-year old, 20” steel pipeline. MSI, along with AVI Engineers and United Pipeline, lined the existing water transmission line with a 20” HDPE liner. The length completed was 92,400 feet, from west of town to the east just short of the Laramie River. Construction of the project was started in February and completed in July.

EchoStar – Data Center

Mechanical Systems, Inc. provided the complete mechanical and plumbing systems, including fuel oil tanks and piping, for this 77,000 sq.ft. data center in Cheyenne, WY. EchoStar will use the data center for internal supercomputing, data storage and archiving. Using Tier III infrastructure for its power and cooling, as well as high-density rack-mount support solutions, EchoStar will be able to provide colocation to third-party customers.

The $40,000,000 project comes complete with N+1 redundancy for all mechanical, electrical, and diesel-powered emergency generators. It also features a central mechanical plant, consisting of 2,000 tons of cooling provided by four chillers and four cooling towers, as well as 12 air handlers serving 25,000 sq.ft. of raised floor plenum.

Ivinson Memorial Hospital – Medical Office Building

Mechanical Systems, Inc. furnished and installed the complete plumbing, mechanical and site utility systems for the 27,000 sq.ft. medical office building, along with renovation of existing hospital spaces. The project also included an underground parking garage and a radiant heating snowmelt system for the exterior walkways and drives.  

Wyoming Air National Guard – Joint Forces Readiness Center

Mechanical Systems, Inc. was responsible for the complete mechanical systems for the $35 million, 140,000 sq.ft. Joint Forces Readiness Center for the State of Wyoming National Guard. The facility consists of high-end offices for the Wyoming Military and Adjutant General Office, IT, auditorium, commercial kitchen, and cafeteria. The mechanical system for this LEED Silver facility utilizes a water-to-water geothermal loop heat pump system, with a variable air volume air handling system.

University of Wyoming – Coe Information Library and Learning Center

Mechanical Systems, Inc. furnished and installed the complete plumbing and mechanical systems for the 94,500 sq.ft. addition and 172,000 sq.ft. renovation of the University of Wyoming Information Library and Learning Center. The $52 million, LEED Silver addition and complete renovation project was designed to modernize the library by integrating technology and information and created 20 additional group study rooms and space for 180 computer terminals. The mechanical system incorporates a VAV design, supplied by the University’s steam and chilled water central utility plant.

University of Wyoming – High Bay Research Facility

This new, state-of-the-art facility at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, WY, provides adaptable and reconfigurable laboratory and research space to be used by both existing projects and new niche research projects. Mechanical Systems, Inc. furnished and installed the complete plumbing and HVAC piping systems for the $68 million, 90,000 sq.ft., two-story research facility and high bay laboratory.
